As Oiler, you will play a key role in the smooth running of the R/V Coriolis II’s engine room.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer or the Engineer of the Watch, you…

  • Help with diverse, routine maintenance and repair of the engines, the machinery, the vessel’s auxiliary systems, and assist with emergency repairs;
  • Check the displays on the equipment, machines, and engines to ensure that the pressure and lubricant flow rate match the established norms;
  • Record data and report anomalies to the Engineer of the Watch;
  • Lubricate moving parts of engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment;
  • Clean the engine’s parts and ensure the engine room’s tidiness;
  • Sort the material in a safe fashion;
  • Keep the logbooks up to date and;
  • Contribute to any other related tasks, as requested and instructed by a superior officer.

Requirements, skills and professional qualities sought:

  • TRAINING/CERTIFICATES:
    • Valid Canadian certificate—Marine Emergency Duties (MEDs) STCW Basic Safety (obtained within the last 5 years);
    • Valid Canadian certificate—Ship Personnel With Designated Security Duties (an asset);
    • Valid Marine Medical Certificate from Transport Canada;
  • MARINE EXPERIENCE: Do you have experience as a seaman, and you dream of playing in the engine room, or do you have experience as an Oiler? We want to meet you!
  • FRENCH: Bilingualism is an asset since most of our crew and clients are francophones.

We are currently looking to fill an Able Seaman (Wheelsman) position within our team. So, if you are a dynamic person who’s curious about scientific research and loves operations on a ship’s deck, we have something that should make you happy!

As Able Seaman (Wheelsman), you will be in charge of monitoring the routes of our various scientific missions while being involved in the operations on the Coriolis II’s bridge. Fun and challenges are guaranteed!

Under the supervision of the Officer of the Watch or the Master, you…

  • Keep a watch shift in the wheelhouse;
  • Assist in the cleaning of the wheelhouse and other locations as required;
  • Assist in the mooring and casting off of the vessel;
  • Collaborate in deck operations;
  • Take part in the ship’s general maintenance, along with steel and paint works;
  • Help in maintaining wires, mooring ropes, etc.;
  • Help in supervising the gangway;
  • Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required.

Requirements, skills and professional qualities sought:

  • TRAINING/CERTIFICATES:
    • Valid Canadian certificate—Marine Emergency Duties (MEDs) STCW Basic Safety and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (obtained within the last 5 years);
    • Canadian certificate—Bridge Watch Rating;
    • Valid Canadian certificate—Ship Personnel With Designated Security Duties; and
    • Valid Marine Medical Certificate from Transport Canada;
  • MARINE EXPERIENCE: We are looking for an experienced able seaman who makes everyone’s safety their priority; a proactive, autonomous and polyvalent person!

We are currently looking to build a bank of applications for candidates wishing to work as Food service and cleaning attendant (Steward/2nd Cook) aboard the R/V Coriolis II. Briefly, as Food service and cleaning attendant, you will take part in creating varied menus; keep the kitchen, shared areas, and the cabins clean and tidy; and will offer our guests an unmatched experience. With the help of the Chief Cook, you will be in part responsible for the happiness of the crewmembers and of the clients by offering them great quality meals in a safe and clean environment.   • Rigorously clean the kitchen, dining room, and clients’ cabins;

Depuis plus de 35 ans, notre client, Reformar veille à ce que chaque mission scientifique en mer prenne le large dans les meilleures conditions. Basée à Rimouski, l’organisation gère la logistique, les navires et les équipages qui soutiennent la recherche océanographique au Québec et ailleurs.

Pour appuyer sa direction et coordonner les activités liées aux missions, Reformar recherche un·e adjoint·e – administration et soutien aux opérations. Si vous aimez quand tout est bien planifié, que vous avez le sens du détail et que vous aimez voir concrètement

Sommaire des responsabilités

L’adjoint·e soutient la direction dans la planification des activités, la tenue des réunions et la mise à jour des politiques internes. Le poste comprend également la coordination des déplacements d’équipage, le suivi administratif des missions et la publication hebdomadaire des communications de l’organisation.

Sous la supervision du directeur général, l’adjointe ou l’adjoint …

Coordination des déplacements et de la logistique des équipages (≈ 50 %)

  • Planifier, organiser et coordonner tous les déplacements des membres d’équipage, incluant les réservations d’avion, de taxi, de navette, d’hébergement, tout en respectant les politiques internes et les budgets alloués.
  • Confirmer les itinéraires et transmettre les documents et informations nécessaires aux membres d’équipage avant leur départ.
  • Gérer les imprévus avec jugement et réactivité : retards, annulations, ou météo, etc
  • Vérifier et compiler les rapports de dépenses liés aux déplacements pour
    approbation et archivage.
  • Agir comme personne-ressource pour les équipages en matière de logistique de déplacements (appels, courriels, ajustements de dernière minute).
  • Collaborer avec la direction afin d’améliorer continuellement les procédures de déplacement et de communication entre la terre et la mer.
  • Assurer un suivi administratif des missions, incluant la mise à jour des registres et la compilation des données pertinentes à des fins internes.

Soutien administratif à la direction et à la gouvernance (≈ 50 %)

  • Planifier, convoquer et organiser les réunions de la direction, du conseil
    d’administration et des différents comités.
  • Assister aux rencontres, rédiger les procès-verbaux avec rigueur et en assurer la diffusion et le classement.
  • Préparer la documentation nécessaire aux réunions et gérer la logistique des déplacements de la direction.
  • Assurer le suivi des décisions prises par le CA et les comités, en collaboration avec la direction.
  • Participer à la mise à jour et à la révision des politiques et procédures internes à partir des documents fournis ou selon les orientations reçues.
  • Gérer certains dossiers administratifs : rapports de dépenses, registres, classement et archivage de dossiers.
  • Superviser l’inventaire des fournitures de bureau (articles de papeterie, matériel d’impression, etc.) et en assurer le réapprovisionnement.
  • Participer au traitement de la correspondance : réponse téléphonique, suivi des courriels administratifs, accueil et orientation des demandes internes ou externes.
  • Offrir un soutien ponctuel aux activités de recrutement : réception et tri des CV, contacts avec les candidats, coordination logistique d’entrevue.
  • Assurer la mise à jour du site web et la rédaction des publications hebdomadaires sur les plateformes de communication de l’organisation (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), en collaboration avec la direction.
  • Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe jugée pertinente à la bonne marche de l’organisation.

Exigences, habiletés et qualités professionnelles recherchées :

FORMATION : Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) en administration, bureautique, gestion ou dans tout autre domaine pertinent.

LANGUES : Excellente maîtrise du français oral et écrit. Une connaissance fonctionnelle de l’anglais (écrit et oral) est souhaitée. Un soutien linguistique peut être offert au besoin.

COMPÉTENCES TECHNIQUES : Maîtrise des logiciels de la suite Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) et d’Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Connaissance de WordPress ou d’outils collaboratifs (Teams, SharePoint) – un atout.
