DESCRIPTION:Projet : Portrait automnal de la biodiversité et de la contamination des sites d’ancrage de l’estuaire fluvial et moyen du Saint-Laurent. \nResponsable : Joannie Ferland\, Biologiste MELCC  \nInstitution : Réseau Québec Maritime  \nSite : Fleuve Saint-Laurent et son estuaire  \nParticipants scientifiques : 17 \nObjectifs : \n• Collecter des données littéraires et créer un carnet commun permettant de valoriser les aspects non quantifiables de l’écosystème et de vulgariser la démarche et les questionnements du projet. \n• Effectuer l’échantillonnage de plancton\, de benthos et de poissons afin de préparer un portrait automnal ‘scientifique et littéraire’ de la biodiversité et de la contamination de l’estuaire moyen du Saint-Laurent. \n• Explorer le lien entre la répartition spatiale des assemblages benthiques et pélagiques (plancton et poissons) et les variables environnementales (habitats et contamination)  \n• Évaluer le risque de transfert trophique de ces contaminants dans la chaîne alimentaire. \n• Prélever des sédiments de surface pour préparer un portrait de leur contamination. \n—– \nProject: Autumnal Portrait of Biodiversity and Contamination of Anchoring Sites of the Fluvial and Middle St. Lawrence Estuary. \nPerson in charge: Joannie Ferland\, MELCC Biologist \nInstitution: Réseau Québec Maritime \nSite: St. Lawrence River and its estuary \nParticipating scientists: 17 \nObjectives: \n• Collect literary data and create a shared journal to appreciate non-quantifiable aspects of the ecosystem and popularise the problems and methods of the project. \n• Sample plankton\, benthos\, and fish to prepare a ‘scientific and litterary’ autumnal portrait of biodiversity and contamination in the middle St. Lawrence estuary. \n• Explore the link between the spatial distribution of benthic and pelagic groups (plankton and fish)\, and the environmental variables (habitat and contamination). \n• Appraise the risk of trophic transfer of these contaminants in the food chain. \n• Gather surface sediment samples to better portray their contamination.
