DESCRIPTION:Projet : RNCan\, Leg 1  \nResponsable : Laura Broom  \nInstitution : Ressources naturelles Canada  \nSite : Plateau continental de la Nouvelle-Écosse  \nParticipants scientifiques : 10  \nObjectif :  \nCartographier les parties peu profondes du plateau continental de la Nouvelle-Écosse à l’appui de plusieurs programmes de RNCan\, y compris le programme de prédéveloppement de l’éolien extracôtier et les géosciences marines pour la planification spatiale marine. Les données cartographiques qui seront collectées comprennent des données d’échosondeur multifaisceaux et de sondeur de sédiment\, qui fourniront des informations importantes sur la géologie sous la surface peu profonde et des fonds marins dans les régions d’intérêt pour les énergies renouvelables extracôtières.  \nCe leg de mission est axé sur le banc du Milieu\, à environ 100 km de la côte est de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Ces données seront requises dans le contexte d’une prise de décisions fondées sur des données probantes concernant l’utilisation et la désignation des zones extracôtières du Canada.  \n—– \nProject: NRCan\, Leg 1  \nPerson in charge: Laura Broom  \nInstitution: Natural Resources Canada  \nSite: Nova Scotian continental shelf  \nParticipating scientists: 10  \nObjective:  \nTo map shallow portions of the continental shelf of Nova Scotia in support of several NRCan programs\, including the Offshore Wind Predevelopment Program and Marine Geoscience for Marine Spatial Planning. Mapping data to be collected include multibeam echosounder and sub-bottom profiler data\, which will yield important information on the seabed and shallow subsurface geology in regions of interest for offshore renewable energy.  \nThis leg of the survey is focused on the Middle Bank\, roughly 100 km from the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. These data will be required for evidence-based decision making regarding the use and designation of Canada’s offshore areas.
