SUMMARY:Mission RQM–MEOPAR — Coriolis II
DESCRIPTION:Projet : Évaluer les risques naturels associés à la remobilisation sédimentaire et les impacts sur les dynamiques de productivité primaire dans l’estuaire du Bas Saint-Laurent.Responsable : Jean-Carlos Montero-Serrano\, Pr. ISMERInstitution : Réseau Québec Maritime et MEOPARSite : Estuaire du Saint-LaurentParticipants scientifiques : 9Objectifs:  *   Récupérer quatre mouillages près de Pointe-des-Monts (3) et de Baie-Comeau (1). Ces mouillages surveillent les conditions des vagues\, les données physiques de la colonne d’eau\, et les échantillons de sédiments en suspension sur un cycle annuel;  *   Obtenir des données hydroacoustiques à haute resolution (bathymétrie multifaisceaux à haute résolution) dans la zone de Pointe-des-Monts et de Baie-Comeau\, ainsi que des autres canyons sous-marins de l’estuaire à proximité. Ces sondages géophysiques permettront d’identifier et de surveiller les zones de mouvement capables d’influencer les écosystèmes et de menacer les infrastructures de ces régions;  *   Recueillir des sédiments de surface et de carottage (principalement avec un carottier à boîte) pour déterminer les sources terrigènes majeures de l’estuaire\, déterminer les concentrations majeures et minimes d’éléments de sédiments de surface de l’estuaire\, documenter la récurrence des courants de turbidité du dernier millénaire\, et cartographier la distribution de A. catenella dans les sédiments du fond marin de l’estuaire;  *   Effectuer des échantillonages de plancton à l’aide de filets pour déterminer l’abondance et la variabilité spatiale des algues nocives (A. catenella) dans les zones de Pointe-des-Monts et de Baie-Comeau.  *   Collecter du matériel géopoétique et littéraire (e.g.\, pensées et réflections sur l’écosystème\, l’échantillonage\, la photographie\, la vidéo\, les sons) afin d’enrichir le contenu littéraire du projet. Ce matériel contribuera à la création de fragments éco et géopoétiques qui amélioreront les aspects non-quantifiables de l’écosystème et permettront de populariser les résultats du projet.–Project: Monitoring natural hazards during coastal to offshore sediment remobilization and its impacts on primary productivity dynamics in the Lower St. Lawrence Estuary.Person in charge: Jean-Carlos Montero-Serrano\, Pr. ISMERInstitution: Réseau Québec Maritime and MEOPARSite: St. Lawrence EstuaryParticipating scientists: 9Objectives:  *   Recover four moorings located off Pointe-des-Monts (three) and Baie-Comeau (one). These moorings are monitoring wave conditions and collecting physical data of the water column and suspended sediment samples over a one-year cycle;  *   Acquire high-resolution hydroacoustic data (high-resolution multibeam bathymetry) in the Pointe-desMonts and Baie-Comeau areas and other proximal submarine canyons of the LSLE. These geophysical surveys will allow to identify and monitor areas of movement that may influence the ecosystem or pose a risk to infrastructure in these areas;  *   Perform surface sediment and sediment core (mainly box corer) sampling to determine sources of major terrigenous inputs to the LSLE\, determine major and trace element concentrations in surface sediments from the LSLE\, document the recurrence of turbidity currents over the past millennium\, and map the distribution of A. catenella in seafloor sediments of the LSLE area;  *   Conduct plankton net sampling to determine the abundance and spatial variability of harmful algae (A. catenella) in the Pointe-des-Monts and Baie-Comeau areas.  *   Collect geopoetics and literary material (e.g.\, thinking and reflections related to the ecosystem\, sampling\, photos\, videos\, and sounds) to enrich the literary content of the project. This material will contribute to the creation of eco- and geo-poetic fragments that will enhance the non-quantifiable aspects of the ecosystem\, and popularize the overall results of the project.

DESCRIPTION:Projet : Programme de monitorage de la Zone Atlantique (PMZA)Responsable : Marjolaine BlaisInstitution : MPOSite : Estuaire et Golfe du Saint-LaurentParticipants scientifiques : 11 Objectifs : *	Obtenir une couverture quasi synoptique du Golfe et Estuaire du St-Laurent en récoltant des données « CTD » (Conductivity\, Temperature\, Pressure/Depth)\, oxygène dissous\, chlorophylle a\, sels nutritifs\, pH/alcalinité\, salinité et des échantillons de phytoplancton et zooplancton\, aux 46 stations positionnées le long des 7 radiales du PMZA\, Région du Québec. (S. Plourde\, P. Galbraith\, M. Starr\, J. Chassé\, D. Lavoie\, M. Blais)*	En complément aux stations du PMZA\, échantillonner plusieurs autres stations supplémentaires (CH\, CMO\, IF\, etc.)\, toutes situées dans des secteurs clés du Golfe et de l’Estuaire du St-Laurent. Ces stations sont échantillonnées avec le même protocole que celui des stations PMZA\, sans toutefois y faire la collecte de phytoplancton et de zooplancton.*	Plusieurs mouillages seront mis à l’eau et/ou récupérés et/ou remplacés (Y. Simard\, P. Galbraith).*	Faire le suivi d’un contaminant via le projet TreX (échantillonnage à la rosette).*	Quelques filets obliques (JackNet) seront faits dans le nord-ouest du Golfe pour trouver des individus de krill (~20 ind). Les transects TSI et TASO seront ciblés et aux stations où l’acoustique semble indiquer présence de krill\, des traits de filets seront faits (J. Cabrol\, V. Lesage).– Project: Atlantic Zone Monitoring Project (AZMP)Person in charge: Marjolaine BlaisInstitution: DFOSite: St. Lawrence Gulf & EstuaryParticipating scientists: 11 Objectives : *	Obtain a quasi-synoptic coverage of the Gulf of St. Lawrence by gathering CTD data (Conductivity\, Temperature\, Pressure/Depth)\, dissolved oxygen\, chlorophyll a\, nutrient salts\, pH/alkalinity \, salinity\, along with phytoplankton and zooplankton samples\, at the 46 stations located along the 7 Quebec region’s AZMP radials. (S. Plourde\, P. Galbraith\, M. Starr\, J. Chassé\, D. Lavoie\, M. Blais)*	Besides the aforementioned AZMP stations\, sample many other stations (CH\, CMO\, IF\, etc.)\, each located in key sectors of the St. Lawrence Gulf and Estuary. These stations are sampled using the same protocol as the AZMP ones\, without the gathering of phytoplankton and zooplankton samples.*	Multiple moorings will be released and/or recovered and/or replaced (Y. Simard\, P. Galbraith).*	Tracking of the T-Rex project contaminant (through rosette sampling).*	Use of JackNets in the northwest area of the Gulf to find krill individuals (~20 ind). The TSI and TASO transects will be targeted\, and nets will be used where station acoustics suggest the presence of krill (J. Cabrol\, V. Lesage).
